Physician – Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Genitourinary (GU) (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

About the Role

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center seek a Genitourinary Oncologist to join the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Medical Oncology. Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience.

Responsibilities

• Directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Conducts ambulatory clinics; interviews, obtains, and reviews medical history of patients.
• Performs physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs.
• Performs relevant oncology procedures.
• Orders special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services.
• Responds to consultation requests.
• Determines, prescribes, and implements treatment plans and/or medications required.
• Documents all services and instructions provided in the medical record.
• Educates patients and promotes wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials, resources, and services to patients and their families.
• Directs and participates in quality assessment and improvement activities.
• Serves as a preceptor and provides bedside training to residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals in the specialty of oncology.
• Ensures continuing medical education requirements are met.
• Participates in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities.

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute expanded in December 2014 to become the 3rd largest cancer hospital in the U.S. The success of this new 398-bed state-of-the-art hospital has led to significant clinical growth and created opportunities for medical oncologists across various solid tumor subspecialties. High-priority searches are focused on candidates interested in Genitourinary (GU) research and patient care.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
• Completion of an accredited Oncology/Hematology Fellowship.
• Board Certified in Internal Medicine and board eligible or certified in Medical Oncology.
• Ability to meet medical licensure requirements in Ohio.
• Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
