Physician – Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Hospital Medicine (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Open-rank/track faculty position in the Division of Hospital Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center.

About the Role

Physician serving as a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine, within the Department of Internal Medicine. Directs and provides direct and indirect patient care services in an inpatient setting. Academic rank and track (clinical, tenure-track, or research) will be commensurate with academic record and experience.

Responsibilities

• Interview, obtain, and review medical history of patients.
• Perform physical examinations to assess medical needs.
• Order procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services.
• Determine, prescribe, and implement treatment plans and/or medications required.
• Document all services and instructions provided in the medical record.
• Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials, resources, and services to patients and their families.
• Direct and participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
• Serve as preceptor and provide bedside training of residents, fellows, medical students, undergraduate & graduate students, nursing staff, and other allied medical professionals.
• Ensure continuing medical education requirements are met.
• Participate in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities.
• Provide medical care for patients admitted to the hospital, including teaching, consultative, continuity, admitting, and overnight services across all hospitals within the OSU Health System.
• Participate in the academic mission through clinical, educational, and research initiatives to improve inpatient care.

Requirements

• Medical Doctor (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent.
• Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
• Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
• Completion of an accredited residency in internal medicine.
