Qualifications

• A doctor of medicine or osteopathy.
• Legally authorized to practice medicine in the state of practice.
• Mental and physical health necessary to meet the demands of the position.

Duties

• Assumes overall responsibility for the medical component of the hospices client care program.
• Be responsive to the medical community to assure high quality, appropriate and efficient utilization of hospice services.
• Aid in investigations of important problems in patient care and clinical performance.
• Coordinate patient care between clinical staff and patients' attending physicians.
• Represent the physician as the physician representative of the interdisciplinary group (IDG) and/or attending physician to certify and re-certify for subsequent election periods that the patient is terminally ill.
• Participate in the organizations orientation program.
