Qualifications

To qualify for this position - you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements (if applicable) listed in the job announcement.

Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Duties

Serve as a core faculty member for the UAB Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program - with active involvement in teaching and supervising fellows.

Provide high quality patient care - including: Oversight of the infusion center during clinical sessions Participation in the inpatient consult service alongside fellows Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration through the Cancer Committee and tumor boards.

Contribute to institutional initiatives such as quality improvement projects and committee service.

Participate in an equitable on call consultation - with after hours and weekend rounding being very uncommon.

Requirements

Must be board certified/eligible in oncology and/or hematology.

The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to help build a new clinical trials program within the Birmingham VA.
