Physician - Hematology - Oncology

About the role

Live and work in the Land of Enchantment at CHRISTUS St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, located at the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We are seeking a full-time Hematologist-Oncologist to join our Regional Cancer Center.

Our Regional Cancer Center is a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility offering a wide range of cancer treatments and supportive services that address physical, emotional, psychological, and practical needs of patients and families. The multidisciplinary clinical team includes medical oncologists, breast surgeons, hepatobiliary surgeons, and radiation oncologists, delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care.

We use the EPIC/Beacon electronic medical record system across all inpatient and outpatient settings to ensure seamless coordination and continuity of care. As a Mayo Clinic Care Network affiliate—the only such affiliate in New Mexico—our providers have access to Mayo’s research, diagnostic tools, and treatment protocols, enabling direct consultation with Mayo experts and application of cutting-edge knowledge to patient care.

In addition to our Mayo affiliation, physicians have access to CHRISTUS St. Vincent’s Clinical Trials and Research portfolio, including pharma-sponsored collaborative trials and investigator-initiated research.

Supportive Care Infrastructure

• Medical & Clinical Support: In-house physician-led anesthesia care team, patient navigation, supportive/palliative care (including massage, acupuncture, meditation, art therapy, reiki, and stress management), genetic counseling, and naturopathic/Oriental medicine.
• Emotional & Psychological Support: Counseling services, support groups in partnership with the local cancer foundation, and social workers providing psychosocial support, therapy, and coping strategies.
• Nutritional & Physical Wellbeing Support: Nutrition counseling with tailored dietary plans, rehabilitation services to restore function and mobility, and exercise programs to maintain strength and reduce fatigue.
• Practical & Logistical Support: 24/7 call coverage, and lodging assistance in collaboration with the local cancer foundation for patients traveling for treatment.
• Spiritual & Holistic Care: Chaplain-led spiritual and emotional support.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with medical and radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and support services.
• Participate in tumor boards and clinical research initiatives.
• Share in practice call responsibilities.
• Utilize EPIC EMR across inpatient and outpatient settings for seamless care coordination.

Requirements

• 3+ years of post-training experience in hematology-oncology.
• MD or DO required.
• Board certification in Medical Oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in New Mexico.
