About the role

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center seeks a Radiologist to join the diagnostic radiology department. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized for highly competitive applicants and additional approvals required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret general radiology (including fluoroscopy)
  • Body imaging (CT/MRI/US)
  • Dexa scans and musculoskeletal radiology studies
  • Review radiology requests for appropriateness
  • Respond to consults timely
  • Prescribe exam protocols
  • Review image quality and provide feedback to the technical staff
  • Absorb informed consent
  • Coordinate clinical care
  • Communicate urgent findings timely
  • Write notes in the EHR
  • Enter orders in the EHR
  • Respond to clinical emergencies
  • Communicate with ordering provider related to imaging test results within established timelines
  • Interact with patients to obtain relevant clinical history and physical exam findings within the scope of radiology practice
  • Provide clinical oversight of medication administration, including contrast material and other medications relevant to practice of diagnostic radiology
  • Participate in quality assurance programs such as peer review and performance improvement
  • Participate in teaching programs and clinical committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief of Service, Deputy Chief of Staff, or Chief of Staff

Requirements

Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
  • Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine
  • License: Current - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of Columbia
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification

Monday-Friday - 8:00am-4:30pm - Eastern Standard Time (negotiable based geographical location)
