Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Promotes high-value health care for all patients of MIT Health; assures timely access to care, is attentive to patient experience and cost of care; utilizes shared decision making when appropriate to establish a plan of care.
  • Counsels and educates the MIT community on various health-related topics.
  • Collaborates with a supportive team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, medical assistants, behavioral health clinicians, dietitians, population health teams, and administrative staff to deliver high-quality care to patients.
  • Maintains accurate and timely medical records for patients.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Monitors patient compliance with prescription opioid medication through periodic toxicity screening and by utilizing the Massachusetts Prescription Awareness Tool, communication with other treating providers and opioid risk assessment questionnaires.
  • Follows all MIT Health policies and state and federal regulations for prescription of controlled substances.
  • Maintains all required licensures and certification, and provides up-to-date documentation of all licenses and certificates to MIT Health.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities to improve the quality of care provided.
  • Adheres to the MIT Health Infinite Caring Compact and MIT Health policies as well as state and federal rules, regulations, and community standard of care.
  • Responsible for telephonic on-call coverage on a rotational basis.

Minimum Required Education And Experience

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of a Family Medicine residency program with an accredited US institution.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Current provider certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) optional.
  • Valid MA license, MA CSR and Federal DEA.
  • Previous clinical experience in primary care of adults with demonstrated competence; experience caring for children and young adults a plus but not required.
  • Possess positive leadership qualities; ability to remind others of practice/clinic policies when needed and conduct crucial conversations.
  • Possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with all levels of employees and providers with ability to give and receive both positive and negative feedback.
  • Demonstrated competence with modern electronic medical records systems and Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint etc.).
