Physician ( Emergency Medicine)

This position is located at Winn Army Community Hospital, Hinesville, Fort Stewart, GA. Civilian healthcare providers are covered by the Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. 1346(b)) while acting within the scope of their employment, eliminating the need for personal medical malpractice liability insurance.

Winn Army Community Hospital is a 112-bed facility featuring a new Women’s Health and Mammography Center, serving a patient population of over 70,000. Key specialties include OB/Gyn, general and orthopedic surgery, EENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology, and Urology. The hospital utilizes a full inpatient and outpatient EMR with digital radiography.

Located in Coastal Georgia, the area offers good schools, community growth, and coastal recreation. Hinesville/Savannah is less than 30 minutes from the beach, with a low cost of living and vibrant nightlife. Nearby universities include Georgia Southern University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. Many physicians reside in upscale suburbs like Richmond Hill, Pooler, and Hinesville, which offer small-town charm with close access to Savannah.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Supervisory Emergency Medicine Physician in the Emergency Department, acting as the senior staff officer on duty.
• Responsible for resuscitation and stabilization of trauma and medical patients.
• Cover the full range of emergency cases, including initial recognition, evaluation, care, and disposition of patients with acute illness or injury.
• Triage, examine, diagnose, resuscitate, stabilize, and treat emergent patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric.
• Examine patients, order tests, and evaluate medical needs to initiate appropriate treatment.
• Coordinate patient admissions with accepting staff physicians.
• Perform authorized emergency procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Laceration repair
  • Central venous line emplacement
  • Pacemaker placement
  • Tube thoracostomy
  • Thoracotomy
  • Cricothyrotomy
  • Cardioversion and defibrillation
  • Peritoneal lavage
  • Bladder aspiration
  • Lumbar puncture
  • Arterial line placement
  • Reduction of dislocations/fractures
  • Tracheal intubation
  • Wound debridement
• Respond to and support in-house cardiopulmonary arrests (echo-medic).
• Provide professional guidance to physician assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and physician assistant students in the Emergency Department.
• Direct and guide the ambulance section.
• Record medical data on prescribed forms and complete administrative functions.
• Participate in administrative tasks assigned by the Chief of the Emergency Department, including:
  • Military Health System (MHS) Learn Training
  • Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance (QI/QA)
  • Monthly departmental staff meetings
  • Risk management
  • Credentialing
  • Operations & Training committees
• Perform peer reviews and other assigned duties.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Board Certified/Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada, accredited by:
  • Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association
  • Association of American Medical Colleges
  • Liaison Committee on Medical Education
  • Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association
  • An accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
• Foreign medical graduates must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. schools through:
  • Permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
  • A fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the U.S. and graduate education abroad
  • Successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Pay

Up to $400,000 per year.
