About the role

Looking for Board Certified/Board Eligible Emergency Medicine Physicians

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose illnesses and prescribe as well as administer treatment for patients
  • Examine patients and obtain medical histories
  • Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Counsel patients regarding preventive healthcare, hygiene and diet
  • Interview, examine and treat clinical patients
  • Provide medical patient care
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention and early detection
  • Determine which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
  • Determine level of urgency for follow-up, referral/consultation appointments
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs
  • Order studies, tests and ancillary services
  • Document all services in patient medical record
  • Review long-term cases that require ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with Medical Director and other professionals on staff
  • Oversee mid-level medical staff and nursing clinical staff
  • Assist in resolving complaints, requests and inquiries from patients

Requirements

  • Medical degree and 2 years of direct or intern experience required
  • Current Medical License in the state of Michigan
  • Current DEA and DPS Certificate of Registration
  • Maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proper telephone etiquette
  • Perform in a tactful and professional manner

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Performs in a position that produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time
  • Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less)
  • Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required
