About the role

The Dermatologist position is in the Medicine Service at the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center. The overall responsibilities are to evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with dermatologic diseases and perform procedures related to skin disease. Additionally responsible for supervision of assigned fellows and residents.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with dermatologic diseases
  • Ensure high quality patient care is delivered in a resource efficient manner
  • Comply with VHA regulations and professional standards and ethical conduct
  • Perform procedures related to the skin diseases
  • Supervise assigned fellows, residents and medical students
  • Ensure the VA Healthcare System programs reflect the mission and priorities of the VHA and VA as well as actively participate in defining and accomplishing the health system's mission and goals pertinent to their scope of practice.

Requirements

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) and Recruitment Incentive. The 2-page Resume requirement does not apply to this occupational series.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
  • Completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Board Certification in Dermatology
