About the role

The Central Arkansas Veterans Health Care System is seeking a Full Time Dermatologist Physician within the Medicine Service to join a high functioning, cohesive team of professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and skin cancer by assessing patients' skin concerns, creating treatment plans, prescribing medications, and performing necessary procedures
  • Perform skin biopsies and other dermatological procedures such as excisions, cryotherapy, and laser treatments
  • Conduct comprehensive skin examinations to detect early signs of skin cancer or other skin-related health issues including but not limited to regular check-ups and monitoring changes in the skin for early intervention and treatment
  • Educate patients about preventative skin care, sun protection, and the importance of regular skin examinations
  • Collaborate using effective communication with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians, oncologists, surgeons, and nurses, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for optimal patient outcomes
  • Actively participate in continuing education opportunities, review current literature, and incorporate new knowledge and techniques into clinical practice
  • Complete all medical record documentation within guidelines and appropriate deadlines, including, but not limited to, e-consults, encounters, CPRS documentation, correctly code visits in accordance with coding guidelines, quality assurance programs, chart reviews, etc.
  • Complete CME as required to maintain competency in specialized section and medical licensure
  • Complete all mandatory VA training in a timely manner
  • Participate in section and service meetings, administrative work assignments, including program building as assigned by the Section Chief and Service Chief

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Physical Requirements: The work is generally sedentary and accomplished in an office environment, but will require some walking, bending, and lifting. They will need to be able to lift up to 25 lbs., stand for long periods of time, and speak at facility-wide meetings for at minimum one hour. Walking to other service areas and UAMS may be necessary at times. This position requires entry into patient care areas to treat patients with various diseases so incumbent must be able to wear a mask as required.
