About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safe transitions of care and continuity of services for Veterans
  • Oversee collaboration and ongoing clinical case review for the Southwestern Veterans Home
  • Partners with the National Tele-MOD program to provide first-call coverage during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Participates in a rotating call schedule with other CLC physicians, providing second-call/backup coverage as needed

Qualifications

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Board Certification: Must be board certified in Internal Medicine/Family Medicine.
  • Additional Requirement: Fellowship training in Geriatrics strongly preferred; Certified Medical Director (CMD) certification is preferred; Demonstrated leadership experience in a post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) setting (3-5 years preferred); Experience leading quality improvement, regulatory readiness, or interdisciplinary teams preferred.

Schedule

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-4:30p with rotational call after hours
