Provides direct medical care to students according to University standards of practice and general standards of health care and acts as medical consultant to clinic staff, health educators, and pharmacy.
About the role
The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Services provides high quality primary health care, prevention, health education and pharmacy services to enhance student living and learning. Primary care services include management of both acute and chronic conditions as well as travel health and provision of gender affirming care. Gynecological services include screening for STIs, provision of age-specific screening, and full contraceptive management. Psychiatric services include management of mood disorders as well as ADHD. Student Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), upholding rigorous standards of quality and safety to promote a healthy environment conducive to academic success.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct medical care to students according to University standards of practice and general standards of health care.
- Acts as medical consultant to clinic staff, health educators, and pharmacy to assess, evaluate, diagnose, and provide appropriate treatments and medications for preventative, acute, and long-term conditions.
- Rotates on-call service.
- Collaborates with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) and/or other appropriate staff/medical professionals to plan and implement patient care.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment; applies knowledge and adherence to recognized standards of infection control.
- Assists other clinical staff as needed to ensure good patient flow.
- Participates in outreach activities including, but not limited to, career fairs and student orientations.
Requirements
- Professional Doctorate Degree (e.g., MD, DO).
- Active Medical License.
- Moderate physical effort required; may be required to stand/move for several hours at a time.
- May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
Schedule
- Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm; may need to work occasional evenings.
- Hybrid: Combination of On-Campus and Remote work as determined by the department.
Assignment Category: Full-time regular. Background check and PA Act 153 clearances (PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance) required prior to commencement of employment.
