About the role
Acts independently, consistently exercises discretion and judgment in examining patients, obtaining medical histories, and ordering, performing, and interpreting diagnostic tests. Provides medical care through patient interviews, examinations, diagnosis, and rendering of appropriate medical or surgical treatment.
Responsibilities
- Counsels patients about illness, injuries, health conditions, and preventive healthcare.
- Educates patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection through interpersonal communication and/or informational materials.
- Assesses need for, and refers patients to additional healthcare providers for specialty care as clinically indicated.
- Assesses urgency of patient medical care needs to determine necessary follow-up schedule and/or referral/consultation appointments.
- Exercises sound medical judgment in all issues pertinent to medical diagnosis and treatment.
Requirements
- Current Michigan license to practice medicine.
- Obtain and maintain medical staff privileges at appropriate subsidiary hospital(s).
- Board certification in area of specialty, where required.
Schedule
Full-time, 80 hours per pay period. Daily work times vary. On-call, weekends, and occasional weekends required.
