About the Role

Medicine for Business and Industry (MBI) operates outpatient clinics specializing in acute injury care within an Occupational Medicine setting. Our services focus on treating occupational injuries. Our fully integrated EMR system enables providers to deliver high-quality patient care with minimal administrative responsibilities. MBI currently has 20+ locations in Arizona, Colorado, and Nevada, with significant career growth opportunities available for qualified candidates.

Successful candidates come from various medical backgrounds including Urgent Care, Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Sports Medicine, and Orthopedics.

Responsibilities

• Provides healthcare to patients both in clinic and via tele-medicine according to established principles of clinical practice.
• Provides oversight of any Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the Physician’s clinic location, including recommendations on clinical management and treatment plans when the Center Medical Director is not on site or available.
• Performs complete history and physical exams to determine capacity to safely perform specified job functions.
• Provides medical opinion regarding job accommodations if needed to safely perform specified job functions.
• Participates in the legal process of workers’ compensation, including Samm’s calls, depositions, and testifying in hearings when requested.
• Performs Fit for Duty & Return to Work evaluations.
• Evaluates and manages the following conditions:
  • Common occupational musculoskeletal injuries of the neck, back, and upper and lower extremities.
  • Work-related injuries to the head with or without loss of consciousness, assuming the individual is currently conscious and alert.
  • Work-related injuries to the chest or abdomen, with the possibility of hernias.
  • Work-related lacerations of the face, scalp, and extremities.
  • Work-related eye injuries, including foreign bodies, non-penetrating injuries, and chemical exposures.
  • Work-related rashes and other occupational skin conditions.
  • Occupational asthma and other work-related respiratory symptoms.
  • Treatment of non-displaced uncomplicated fractures, including interpreting radiographs, splinting, and orthopedic referral when appropriate.
• Performs evaluation and management tasks including:
  • Complete and accurate history and physical, with detailed documentation of work-related complaints, mechanism of injury, activity, and occupational limitations.
  • Awareness of OSHA recordability and rendering medically appropriate care while being sensitive to treatment that makes an injury recordable to the employer.
  • Prescription of appropriate medications and therapy.
  • Ordering and interpretation of radiographs.
  • Referral for specialized testing such as MRI, EMG as necessary and appropriate.
  • Referral for specialty care as appropriate.
  • Identification of appropriate limitations to activity at home and work.
  • Rendering an opinion regarding causality and work relatedness.
  • Communication with employers at the completion of the first visit to review the treatment plan and work capacity of the patient, and as needed throughout the case.
• Supports the values, mission, and vision of MBI Industrial Medicine, Inc., through compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Exhibits professional communication skills and maintains a team-centered approach.
• Participates in strategic planning activities as requested by the Center or State medical leader.
• Serves as a leader in the clinic, working in partnership with the Clinic Administrator and Center Medical Director.

Requirements

• MD/DO degree.
• Unrestricted Arizona Medical Licensure with no active stipulations.
• Active full DEA license.
• Current BLS certification.
• FMCSA certified for DOT exams within 90 days of hire.
• Board Certification in primary specialty preferred but not required in: Occupational Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, PMR, Orthopedics (others will be considered).
• MRO certification preferred.
• Solid, demonstrated knowledge of the practice and application of occupational medicine.
• Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing rehabilitation services, workers’ compensation, and clinical procedures/processes.
• Working knowledge of medical office administration and procedures.
• Sound administration and management skills.
• Ability to instruct, teach, and correct with a confident and professional demeanor.
• Ability to perform treadmill stress tests (preferred).

Schedule

3 days per week.

Pay

$115–130 per hour.
