About Curana Health
Curana Health is a national leader in value-based care dedicated to radically improving the health, happiness, and dignity of older adults. We partner with senior living communities and skilled nursing facilities to deliver on-site primary care services, Accountable Care Organizations, and Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans—solutions proven to enhance health outcomes, streamline operations, and create new financial opportunities. Founded in 2021, we now serve 200,000+ seniors in 1,500+ communities across 32 states, supported by a team of over 1,000 clinicians and care professionals. Ranked #147 on the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies, we’re redefining senior healthcare through a model built on autonomy, flexibility, and meaningful patient relationships.
About the Role
If you’ve spent years in traditional practice feeling constrained by rigid schedules, administrative overload, and a system that prioritizes checkboxes over patient care, Curana Health offers a different way. Our physicians consistently tell us this is the best job they’ve ever had—not as a talking point, but as a reality. Here, you’ll practice medicine on your terms: setting your own schedule, managing your patient flow, and focusing on the work that truly matters. We’re seeking mission-driven physicians ready to restore the autonomy, ownership, and fulfillment that drew you to medicine in the first place.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, person-centered care across skilled nursing facilities and senior living communities as a trusted clinical leader for your patients.
- Complete history and physicals on new patients and conduct routine rounding (minimum once per week).
- Partner with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to manage regulatory and complex patient visits, ensuring compliance and clinical excellence.
- Oversee APP performance, serving as a mentor and resource to elevate care delivery across your team.
- Close quality gaps when prompted, driving measurable improvements in patient outcomes.
- Serve as a trusted advocate for patients, championing their priorities and well-being.
- Represent Curana Health’s mission and values as a clinical leader and ambassador in the communities you serve.
Medical Directorship Opportunities
For physicians interested in expanding their leadership role, Curana offers Medical Directorship opportunities at our partner facilities. Medical Directors shape the quality and culture of care at the facility level, working alongside leadership to drive better outcomes for residents.
- Oversee clinical care delivered to facility residents and take accountability for quality outcomes.
- Lead clinical quality metric review, including attending monthly QAPI meetings, analyzing CASPER and RTA data, and addressing areas like polypharmacy, infection control, and antibiotic stewardship.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to Project Improvement Plans (PIPs).
- Mentor Curana-employed APPs to build a stronger, more consistent clinical team.
- Support facility leadership with regulatory compliance, including engaging with surveyors to ensure state and federal guidelines are met.
- Ensure external attending physicians meet the facility’s quality and compliance standards.
Medical Directorships include additional compensation and allow physicians to expand their clinical leadership without leaving patient care behind.
What Makes Curana Different
- Flexibility that works: Our model is designed to reduce operational friction, giving you control over your schedule and time without sacrificing work-life balance. Physicians consistently cite this as a key reason they stay.
- True clinical autonomy: You’ll have meaningful control over how you round, manage patient flow, and structure your day—less protocol-driven overhead, more room for clinical judgment.
- Meaningful, complex work: Geriatric care is intellectually demanding and deeply rewarding, requiring clinical judgment to treat the whole person, not just a single condition.
- Supportive infrastructure: Curana provides structured onboarding, ongoing training, and responsive support teams to help with charting, value-based care models, and more. You’ll have the autonomy of private practice without the isolation.
- Data-driven tools: AI-powered insights, smart communication platforms, and modern EMR integrations help you manage your patient population more effectively, so you can focus on care.
