Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of patients on a continuing basis including but not limited to Evaluation and management of acute and chronic medical conditions for adults
- Advising patients on treatment recommendations, lifestyle modifications, and age-appropriate preventive screenings
- Ordering and analyzing necessary diagnostic tests using high value care principles and EBM to inform clinical decision-making
- Prescribing appropriate treatment and/or medication in an evidence-based manner and within the scope of licensure
- Referring patients for consultant services when necessary
- Engage in health promotion activities
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examinations
- Complete EMR documentation, billing, and patient-related paperwork in a timely manner
- Participate in night and weekend call shared among clinicians
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team
- Attend and participate in clinic, provider, and all staff meetings
- Participate in pre-visit planning activities with the other members of the care team
- Participate in center wide and clinic-specific quality improvement projects and PEER Review
- Participate in appropriate certification/maintenance of certification and continuing medical education activities
- Maintain updated license and DEA
- Work continually to assure deliverance of quality clinical care in a safe, efficient, competent, and effective manner
- Comply with all laws applicable to the practice of your specialty including HIPAA and mandated reporting
Qualifications
- Must have an MD or DO degree & board eligible/certified
- Successful completion of an accredited residency training program in internal medicine or family medicine
- BC/BE in specialty
- Current and valid NYS license
- Current DEA certificate
- Updated BLS and infection control certificate
- Excellent bedside manner
- Proficiency in Spanish or an South east Asian language is preferred
- Working knowledge of primary HIV medical care and LGBTQI care is a plus
