Job Summary
Provide high-quality, efficient, team-based, patient-centered care under the supervision of a physician. Manage patients in office, hospital, emergency department, or perioperative settings. Perform department-specific procedures and may assist in surgeries as First Assist. Facilitate on-call duties as assigned.
Work Schedule Details
Work Schedule: 36 hours/week. Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday. Week 2: Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine patients, perform comprehensive physical exams, and collect medical histories.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as imaging, EKG, and lab work.
- Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
- Develop and execute patient management plans and document progress notes.
- Educate and counsel patients on treatment compliance, health maintenance, family planning, and emotional well-being.
- Facilitate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
- Conduct admission evaluations by reviewing medical records, performing exams, and documenting findings.
- Provide pre-operative and peri-operative patient and family education.
- Assist in surgical procedures by acting as First Assist, starting IVs, and suturing, depending on specialty and competency.
- Monitor post-operative patients, enter orders, review vital signs and lab results, and manage recovery care.
- Prepare timely discharge summaries and transfer documentation.
Key Requirements
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.
- Physician Assistant License (California) at time of hire.
- Physician Assistant National Certification (PA-C) at time of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI) required.
- Fluoroscopy Permit required or must be obtained within 18 months if working in Orthopedics, Interventional Radiology, or Radiation Oncology.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Experience and competency in specific clinical tasks may be required based on department.
- Strong communication, clinical skills, patient education, and team collaboration abilities.
Preferred
- 1-2 years' experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Department as a Physician Assistant.
Additional Information
- Position is regular, full-time, onsite evening shift.
- No travel or relocation available.
- 10% sign-on bonus offered.
