Physician Assistant - Plastic Surgery
Responsibilities
Physician Assistants (PAs) in the Division of Plastic Surgery on the Phoenix campus work within care teams comprised of both physicians and NP/PAs working collaboratively. In a care team model, PAs are partnered with individual physicians to support patient care needs of the team. In addition to supporting team-based care, the PA also has the opportunity to practice autonomously, maintaining their own outpatient clinic with an individual caseload.
Together, the teams provide care for a wide range of patients across subspecialties. The PA role in Plastic Surgery requires full-time outpatient clinic, hospital based inpatient, care and surgical responsibilities. Within the outpatient clinical setting, PAs perform patient outpatient visits with direct and indirect supervision and may be involved in independent outpatient procedures. Additionally, the PA team interacts and partners with residents and is actively engaged in educational activities with rotating medical, nursing, and NP/PA students.
The Physician Assistant demonstrates leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives; remains active in professional organizations and participates in community activities; is flexible to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs; has the ability to manage time and stress effectively; and can adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
