About the role

We are currently searching for a Physician Assistant to work with one of our Physicians at our OrthoCarolina Pineville office. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical care as delegated by OrthoCarolina physician(s).

Responsibilities

  • Assisting the physician in both the office and hospital setting
  • Independent clinics seeing patients with a variety of orthopedic injuries and illnesses
  • Assisting in the operating room as needed
  • Performing emergency room and floor consultations
  • Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons/staff
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection
  • Assesses, applies and/or removes a variety of orthopedic casts, splints, and immobilization devices
  • Serves as assist-at-surgery for orthopedic procedures
  • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, applies appropriate codes and charges for service, and assists in provision of continuity of care
  • Dictates patient records including discharge summaries, history and physical evaluations, operative procedure notes, consultations and office visit notes
  • Documents patient information and care provided in patient record
  • Uses computer to access/enter needed data
  • Rounds on hospital inpatients as directed by supervising physician(s) to hospitals assigned and performs emergency room and floor consultations as assigned

Skills

  • Accurately evaluate patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention or referral
  • Skill in evaluating and revising care plans based on patient changes

Qualifications

  • Graduate of AMA accredited physician assistant program
  • North Carolina PA license
  • Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Prior experience in the field of orthopedics is preferred but not required
  • Prior experience as a physician assistant is preferred but not required
