Physician Assistant-Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery
About the Role
This position provides direct patient care relative to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management in an ambulatory and/or inpatient setting to patients with complex medical conditions or surgical patients. Works closely with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a plan of care to meet the needs of the patient and their families. Some off-hour, weekend, and on-call responsibilities may be required.
Responsibilities
- Performs history and physical examinations, formulation of care plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests, and provides education to patients and their families.
- Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, formal and informal education, review of literature, and participation in seminars and conferences.
- Coordinates the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises between visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consult services. Care plans should encompass the entire service to tie it together.
- Consults with physicians or surgeons regarding the care of patients for more complex diagnoses.
- Documents clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner.
- Works in a collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine health needs of patients and families. Demonstrates and role-models an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant required.
- Physician Assistant License required.
- DPH Drug Control registration required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- 0-1 years of related work experience required.
- Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA.
- Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access).
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to five years of experience in a clinical environment.

Physical Demands
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job is physical, requiring standing and/or moving around for the majority of the shift.
Pay
Annual base salary range: $133,120.00 USD - $230,000.00 USD. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, and job responsibilities.
