Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

About the Role

Provide patient medical services within the training and experience of the practitioner, in accordance with the Protocols of Patient Care, Delta Memorial policies, and applicable state laws. The Delta Memorial Medical Director serves as the collaborating physician in compliance with the Arkansas Medical Board and Arkansas Nursing Board.

Responsibilities

• Obtain complete, detailed, and accurate medical histories on patients and review records to develop comprehensive medical status reports.
• Perform health assessments and physical examinations, recording all pertinent patient data.
• Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to interpret and integrate patient data for establishing presumptive diagnoses.
• Order and evaluate laboratory studies, radiological exams, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Synthesize data to determine patient assessments and therapeutic plans in accordance with established protocols.
• Perform therapeutic procedures as authorized by the medical director and within the scope of practice.
• Administer injections, immunizations, and oral medications; prescribe, administer, and dispense drugs in compliance with federal and state laws.
• Provide instructions, guidance, and counseling on medical care to patients and families.
• Refer patients to necessary services not provided in the clinic.
• Interview and advise patients on health and illness prevention; recommend community resources as needed.
• Assist physicians in the clinic and deliver medical care at other authorized locations.
• Triage patient phone calls and provide consultation.
• Perform independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergencies.
• Monitor patients and ensure continuity of care between visits.
• Accurately document medical visits and procedures in the electronic system, including:
  • Patient medical history and physical exam.
  • Subjective and objective data related to the visit.
  • Assessment and plan of care.
  • Procedures, treatments, patient education, risks, benefits, diagnoses, prescriptions, and follow-up instructions.
• Participate in performance improvement activities and report operational issues to the clinic director.
• Review and interpret clinical data, lab, or test results, ensuring accuracy in medical records.
• Maintain systems to track patient follow-up, preventative care, and compliance.
• Document all communication and coordination of patient care.
• Serve as a system navigator and point of contact for patients and families, advocating for patient needs with carriers.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, clinical staff, and providers.
• Contribute as a team player, acting as a resource to others and adhering to company processes and procedures.
• Provide orientation to new team members.
• Enhance the clinic’s reputation through high-quality service and willingness to take on new tasks.
• Respond to all forms of communication in a timely manner.
• Participate in developing, executing, and reviewing clinic policies, treatment protocols, and services.
• Engage in quality assurance reviews of patient records and provide information for billing and service planning.
• Attend required meetings, committees, and professional development activities.
• Adhere to policies for attendance, dress code, and completion of in-services and health exams.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and an accredited nurse practitioner/physician assistant training program.
• Current RN and Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Certification.
• Current Arkansas Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant furnishing number (DEA) and Valid National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• Two years of experience preferred.
• Knowledge of professional medical practice, organizational policies, and patient care procedures.
• Skills in taking medical histories, assessing conditions, and interpreting findings.
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply treatment protocols and guidelines.
• Ability to recognize when consultation with the collaborating physician is required.
• Must be insurable for professional liability.

• Ability to comply with infection control measures, including immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases, tuberculosis screening, and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Schedule

Generally, Monday-Friday with extended hours as needed.

Work Environment

• Exposure to chemicals, machinery, and bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of personal protective equipment (e.g., masks, gowns, gloves).
