About the role
The Department of Medicine Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner is a member of the inpatient General Medical Service team. The PA/NP assists attending physicians in the medical management of patients assigned to the PA/NP service and works in the context of an integrated team which includes residents, medical students, and attendings.
Responsibilities
- Assist attending physicians in the medical management of patients assigned to the PA/NP service.
- Work in the context of an integrated team which includes residents, medical students, and attendings.
- Develop and coordinate a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families.
- Work closely with the physician and nursing staff to develop and coordinate a plan of care designed to meet the physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families.
- Provide patient care services in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and meetings.
Requirements
- Must have successfully completed a Graduate Level, accredited Physician Assistant Program approved by AMA Board of Approval and Certification of PA programs.
- Must have 4 years of college level education and baccalaureate degree or equivalent.
- Board Certification by the National Commission on Certification of PA/NPs is required.
- Completion of a master’s or post master’s degree in acute care, adult or family NP program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
- Current certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or an equivalent body.
- Current active licensure to practice in the expanded role in the state of Massachusetts.
- One year of relevant full time experience as a PA/NP in this specialty, preferred, not required.
- Other previous hands-on patient care experience may be considered at the discretion of the Medical Director.

Schedule
Per diem 12 hour day shifts. Primarily weekend & holiday coverage.
