Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner– Mays & Schnapp Neurospine and Pain

About the Role

Mays & Schnapp is seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to diagnose pain conditions and determine appropriate procedure and medication-based therapies. This position requires a full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of the organization, demonstrating behavior consistent with core values, and supporting the Center’s strategic plan.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
• Contribute to physician efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues and recommending options and courses of action.
• Implement physician directives.
• Assess patient health through interviews, physical examinations, and medical histories.
• Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, laboratory studies) and interpreting results.
• Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Perform therapeutic procedures, including administering injections, immunizations, suturing, and managing infections.
• Instruct and counsel patients on normal growth and development, emotional problems, and daily living.
• Develop and implement patient management plans to provide a community of care.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, networking, and participation in professional societies.
• Comply with applicable laws, regulations, Mays & Schnapp Code of Conduct, policies, procedures, and compliance training programs.
• Practice within relevant Standards of Care and Professional Conduct, and execute appropriate Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Protocol (Tennessee and/or Mississippi).

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Program (Master’s Level).
• Must hold an unencumbered state license and maintain licensure in good standing, fulfilling required CME/CEU hours.

• Knowledge: Excellent communication skills, health promotion and maintenance, clinical skills, ability to work with interdisciplinary teams, physiological knowledge, medication expertise, and chronic pain management.

Physical Requirements

• Work requires little to no physical effort, with intermittent light physical exertion.

Environmental Conditions

• Work is performed under normal conditions in a typical practice environment.
• Must be able to work under pressure.
