Essential Duties
- Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment.
- Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
- Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care.
- Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.
- Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
- Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
- Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the client.
- Administers therapeutic measures and obtains specimens as prescribed.
- Dictates follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response, and plan.
- Maintains provision of preventive health services (e.g. screening, risks assessment, immunizations, PAP smears, self-breast exam).
- Dictates or writes patient history, admissions, care plans, progress, and discharge notes.
- Provides on-call coverage.
- Performs patient triage and determines the urgency of physician's evaluation.
- Endoscopic Vein & Radial Artery harvest using the Hemopro 2 system
- First assistant: cases include CABG, aortic and mitral valve repair/replacement, complex aortic repair, aortic dissection, ECMO Insertion, IABP insertion, Impella, David procedure, Ross procedure, Robotic MV
- Perform procedures: central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube placement, and groin cutdown.
- Conducts patient interviews and documents patient histories.
- Schedules and/or performs laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures such as urinalyses, blood tests, and x-rays.
- Communicates necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled procedures to patient.
- Participates in the care and medical decision making for preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patients at Corewell Health.
Standard Qualifications
- Education / Training: Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies
- Work Experience: 1 to 3 years’ experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in a Cardiovascular Surgery OR setting, strongly preferred.
- Certification, Licensure, Registration: State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license requiredAHA/ARC BLS certification required
