Job Overview

The Physician Assistant will provide coverage with evaluation, treatment, and documentation of service for patients requiring orthopedic care in both the operating and office environment. They will assist the physician during office hours, including non-op, preoperative, and postoperative instructions for all orthopedic subspecialties within the practice. They will also provide dictation support and documentation of patient encounters, letters of Medical Necessity, Disability Forms, discharge letters, and conduct patient calls/post-op calls.

Responsibilities

  • Assists physician during office hours including non-op, preoperative and postoperative instructions for all orthopedic subspecialities within the practice
  • Provides coverage with residents, fellows and other advanced practitioners covering provider on-call schedules
  • Liaisons between physician and outside consulting physicians regarding patient care
  • Performs assessment and reassessment of the patient according to applicable department standards and identified tools
  • Assists physician during hospital rounds with post-op patients and with research as needed
  • Participates in and contributes to orthopedic educational activities for appropriate internal and external parties
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Physician

Requirements

  • PA-C Licensure
  • CDS, DEA, BLS
  • Possess good working knowledge of scheduling and procedure prioritization to minimize delays and ensure completion of daily work schedule
  • Recognizes areas for improvement in divisional policies or patient care; initiates change; educate all involved in change
  • Passion and Experience providing empathetic patient care and exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization

  • Ability to organize and achieve quality performance in a new and changing environment
