Physician Assistant - Fluoroscopy

TRA Medical Imaging is hiring a full-time (1.0 FTE) Certified Physician Assistant to support our team in delivering patient-centered care across multiple sites in Pierce and South King County. Mileage reimbursement is provided for qualified travel between facilities.

About the role

The Physician Assistant will join a dedicated team of providers focused on diagnostic fluoroscopy and image-guided procedures, embodying TRA’s core values of Compassionate Care, Accountability & Integrity, Respect, and Excellent Service.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostic Fluoroscopy (75%):
  • Perform a high volume of fluoroscopic studies, including upper GI studies, esophagrams, small bowel follow-through exams, and fluoroscopic urologic studies.
  • Ensure accurate image acquisition, patient safety, and efficient exam throughput.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to maintain high-quality diagnostic standards.
• Image-Guided Procedures (25%):
  • Perform and assist with arthrograms and thyroid biopsies as core procedural responsibilities.
  • Support additional needle-based procedures based on departmental growth and provider competency.
  • Maintain procedural excellence in patient preparation, sterile technique, and post-procedure care.
• Establish and maintain strong, productive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Conduct pre-procedure evaluations, obtain informed consents, and provide post-procedure follow-up care.
• Support radiologists in ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered procedural workflows.
• Participate in procedural scheduling coordination across multiple sites.
• Document procedure-related notes accurately and in compliance with industry, TRA, and hospital standards.
• Actively contribute to the growth, development, and optimization of the clinic-based practice.
• Work a schedule that includes at least one weekend day and additional weekday shifts, generally totaling four 10-hour days per week.
• Reimbursed travel between TRA and Diagnostic Imaging NW sites and local hospitals may be required.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory work, as appropriate.
• Participate in APP and departmental meetings, contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Check work email daily and respond promptly to ensure effective communication and continuity of care.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited institution.
• Current Washington licensure as a Physician Assistant.
• Current BLS & ACLS certification.
• Experience with radiologic or procedural medicine preferred (e.g., interventional radiology, fluoroscopy, or orthopedics).
• Strong procedural competence and interest in performing needle-based and fluoroscopic studies.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with radiologists, technologists, and nursing staff.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage a dynamic, multi-site schedule.
• Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.

• Ability to assist in supporting patients of varying weight.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment (e.g., keyboard, photocopier, telephone).

• High attention to detail and ability to handle mentally stressful situations.
• Maintain a high level of sensitivity toward confidential information.

Working Conditions

• Normal clinical inpatient and outpatient working conditions.
• Limited exposure to ionizing radiation and communicable diseases.

Schedule

• Two shifts available:
  • Wednesday – Saturday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sunday – Wednesday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm

Pay

$131,362 – $160,487 per year based on relevant experience, skills, and abilities. Eligible for additional annual bonuses based on performance and reviews.
