Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine

About the role

Provides patient care in collaboration with physicians, demonstrating autonomy in evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for new or established patients. Orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and manages therapeutic regimens within scope of practice. Supports nursing, staff physicians, and department staff through triage, communication, and patient education. Typically performed in a clinical setting, emphasizing kindness, excellence, learning, innovation, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assess and establish presumptive diagnoses, develop and implement treatment plans.
• Document accurately in electronic medical records, order and interpret diagnostics, and prescribe evidence-based therapies.
• Adjust or discontinue medications as needed, report significant findings to physicians.
• Perform procedures within authorized scope, communicate with team members and patients, and provide health education.
• Ensure safety, ethical care, and patient advocacy, acting as their health care partner.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies required; Master's preferred.
• Current NCCPA certification or eligibility, PA licensure in Pennsylvania.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Knowledge of care management, clinical policies, health documentation, patient assessment, and safety standards.
