About the role

Baylor Scott & White Health is expanding its virtual behavioral health services and is seeking its first Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to help shape and deliver high-quality psychiatric care within an innovative, digitally enabled care model. This is a foundational opportunity for an experienced PA who is passionate about virtual care, clinical innovation, and collaborative, physician-led practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and follow-up care via virtual visits under physician collaboration.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, care navigators, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
  • Help establish clinical workflows and best practices for PAs within a hybrid care model incorporating digital interventions and measurement-based care.
  • Participate in case reviews, clinical rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development and refinement of protocols for digital tools such as mood tracking, sleep tracking, journaling, interactive worksheets, and medication adherence.
  • Provide clinical input on digital product development to ensure tools align with patient needs and enhance care delivery.
  • Serve as a clinical leader in shaping how PAs contribute to the evolving Mental Health Product care model.
  • Mentor future PA hires and contribute to onboarding and workforce development strategies.
  • Partner with the Medical Director and Clinical Director to refine value-based care models and outcome metrics.
  • Act as a team lead and collaborative partner across clinical and product teams.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Active Physician Assistant license with eligibility to practice in psychiatry/behavioral health.
  • 3+ years of mental health experience strongly preferred, ideally in outpatient psychiatry, telehealth, or integrated care settings.
  • Experience working under physician supervision/collaboration in psychiatric care.
  • Comfort with technology-enabled care, including EMRs, digital health applications, and remote monitoring tools.
  • Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Interest in clinical innovation, protocol development, and scaling virtual care models.
