Job Requirements
- Evidence of completion from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Curent Licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan
- Curent Federal DEA Schedule II License
- Documentation of training and experience supporting requested privileges
Essential Job Duties
- Obtains and records appropriate medical history
- Performs and records findings from physical examination
- Initiates appropriate laboratory, radiologic and other tests needed for evaluation of the patient
- Interprets results of diagnostic studies under direction and guidance of supervising physician
- Initiates and documents treatment, including health maintenance and other preventive services per GLBHC protocol
- Performs procedures as qualified by training and/or experience, including Vena Puncture, Arterial Blood Gases, Bladder Catheterization, Intradermal Skin Test, IM and/or Subq Injections, Electrocardiogram Examination, Application/Removal of Dressings, Application/Removal of Cast, Appropriate Wound Care, Suture Removal, Suturing of Uncomplicated Lacerations, Gastric Lavage, Obtains Specimens for Cultures and Sensitivity, Gram Stains and other laboratory studies, Administers Local Anesthesia, Toenail Removal, Prescribes medication not legally controlled, Prescribes controlled medication, Counsels patients and family in preventative care, health maintenance, and disease management, Makes referrals to appropriate specialists, Conducts inpatient rounds, Provides leadership and mentoring to non-physician providers
Marginal Job Duties
- Attends provider meetings and staff meetings as assigned
- Participates in the continuing education of nursing staff, nurse practitioner, students, medical students, interns, residents and other students
- Performs other functions related to health center as directed by GLBHC and/or Medical Director
