This is an on-site, contract Physician Assistant role based in Garden City and Glen Cove, NY. The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care under the supervision of a dermatologist, including conducting focused histories and physical exams, evaluating skin conditions, and formulating differential diagnoses and treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Performing and assisting with dermatologic procedures (such as biopsies, cryotherapy, and simple cosmetic treatments)
• Prescribing and managing medications
• Providing clear patient counseling on diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive skin care
• Reviewing test results
• Documenting encounters in the electronic medical record
• Coordinating follow-up care
• Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to support clinic flow and high-quality care
• Maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge
• Following all regulatory and infection control standards
• Participating in practice-wide quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Active Physician Assistant license in the state of New York
• Prior clinical experience in dermatology or a strong interest in dermatology with relevant rotations or training; experience in outpatient specialty care is preferred
• Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and performance of common office-based procedures within scope of practice
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex medical information in clear, accessible language and build rapport with diverse patients
• Proficiency in documenting clinical encounters using electronic medical records and maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment, manage a steady patient volume, and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
• Commitment to ethical, patient-centered care, adherence to privacy and regulatory standards, and ongoing professional development
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program; BLS certification required, with ACLS and additional dermatology certifications considered an asset
