About the role
This Physician Assistant position is a critical component of Connecticut Orthopaedics, the #1 Physician Practice in Orthopaedics in Connecticut for two consecutive years. The role involves managing orthopaedic patients, including evaluating and diagnosing new and existing conditions, pre-op and post-op management, and surgical first assist. You will work closely with our operations team and physicians.
Location & Schedule
Trumbull and Fairfield, CT. Monday-Friday with one weekend shift per month (comp time provided during the week).
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat new and existing patients’ orthopaedic conditions
- Provide medical services and advice for acute and chronic orthopaedic medical conditions
- Provide surgical assistance
- Establish patients’ plan of care
- Manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal medical conditions
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as x-rays
- Document patient status, treatment procedures, and progress notes in medical charts, ensuring all orders are signed and dated
- Conduct follow-up patient care
- Provide health education to patients and families and participate in community health education
- Supervise and/or coordinate the activities of patient care and support staff within the clinical setting
- Prescribe medications, including narcotics and controlled substances, with supervising physician’s documentation
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Requirements
- Licensure requirements of the state of jurisdiction
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
- 2-4 years of clinical experience required; orthopaedic-specific experience preferred
