The Physician Assistant will demonstrate clinical competency by utilizing medical techniques and principles independently, providing care and encouragement to a diverse set of patients. The role requires strong problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional eager to help change the way care is delivered, capable of working with little supervision, and committed to following health and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Acquires and reviews patient histories, identifying abnormal conditions
- Performs physical examinations and evaluates patients’ symptoms to determine the best course of treatment
- Prepares patients for examination by removing clothing, applying drapes or gowns, or cleaning the skin
- Assesses patients’ health and their demands, aiming to fulfill them as well as possible
- Issues appropriate prescriptions and administers medicine
- Monitors patients’ progress and keeps records of treatments, surgeries, or other medical events
- Documents patients’ medical information and maintains patient charts
- Educates patients about their conditions and treatment options
- Communicates regularly with other healthcare providers, such as physicians and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care
- Performs data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintains patient files
- Participates in continuing education to improve skills and stay current with technologies and practices
- Ensures compliance with legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management, as well as JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations
- Exhibits courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals
- Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in patient flow, acuity, and operational demands while maintaining quality
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
