Physician (Anesthesiology) – GP-0602-14

This position is located at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Killeen, TX. Fort Hood is a United States Army post in Central Texas, approximately 60 miles north of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, and situated between Killeen and Copperas Cove. The post serves as headquarters for III Armored Corps and First Army Division West, and is home to the 1st Cavalry Division and 3rd Cavalry Regiment.

Responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia services to all categories and types of patients requiring surgical or procedural intervention.
• Administer appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic nerve blocks in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.
• Oversee activity of recovery room and administer appropriate drug and respiratory therapy in the recovery room setting.
• Instruct nurse anesthesia students, physicians, interns, and physicians rotating through the Anesthesiology Service in the proper administration of anesthesia.
• Perform the most advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures.
• Responsible for making treatment recommendations for the full treatment regimen involving knowledge of new techniques.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement for Physician (Anesthesiology):

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. A foreign medical degree must demonstrate equivalency to accredited U.S. schools, evidenced by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Transcripts and/or proof of foreign equivalency must be attached to the application.)
• Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (A copy of your license/registration must be attached to the application.)
• Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or institution accredited for such training. (Proof of graduate training program completion must be attached to the application.)

Additional Qualification for GP-14:

• Successfully completed the required accredited residency training in Anesthesiology and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not substitute for residency training required for the specialty.
