West Virginia University Health System, the state’s largest health system and largest private employer, comprises 18 hospitals throughout the state and bordering states. In addition, it includes five institutes, as well as providing management services for other local hospitals through affiliate agreements.
About the role
The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Anesthesiology seeks a Per Diem General Anesthesiologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites.

- Provide excellent patient care
- Actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows
Requirements
- MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent
- Eligible for state medical license
- Completed an Anesthesiology residency program
- Fellowship programs highly regarded
- Board certified/eligible in Anesthesiology within 3 years
- All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment

WVU Anesthesiology has the largest anesthesia practice in the state and is the only anesthesiology residency-training program. The department has more than 150 credentialed clinicians. Major divisions include cardiovascular, pediatric, neuro, ambulatory anesthesia, and pain medicine. The department and institution are growing and plan to add clinicians during the next year.
