Responsibilities
- Manage utilization and resource management for optimal patient care
- Conduct peer reviews with payor medical directors
- Evaluate short inpatient stays and review patients under observation
- Foster relationships with medical staff to enhance utilization management buy-in
- Attend utilization management committees as a subject matter expert
- Aid in handling denials and appeals when necessary
- Educate medical staff on utilization management topics
Qualifications
- MD/DO Physician degree required
- 5-7 years of experience in healthcare utilization management
- Strong background in resource management and cost-effective care
- Experience with healthcare documentation, coding, and compliance
- Exceptional communication skills, especially in executive settings
