About the role
The Department of Corrections Health Services Division is seeking a Physician 3 On-Call for the Monroe Correctional Complex in Monroe, WA.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care.
- Reviews nursing triage and works closely with the Nursing Team and other clinical staff.
- Implements the plan of care by providing direct patient care, directing others about urgency, time frames, and methods to deliver health care.
- Diagnoses health problems and determines outcomes.
- Provides medication as required.
- Collaborates with the Facility Medical Director and HSM3 in planning health care delivery, prioritizing services, and ensuring continuity of care.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and other health care personnel.
- Identifies and solves problems.
- Legibly documents patient care in SOAP format.
- Counsels and teaches patients and their families to reduce health risks, improve self-care, and manage symptoms.
- Assists with treatment of Hepatitis C and OUD/Suboxone patients.
- Provides clinical consultation and oversight to ARNPs and PAs.
- Serves as a consultant to Health Services Managers, RN4, and Custody Administration.
- Affords instruction, teaching, and mentoring to medical practitioners.
- Maintains accurate and complete records of patient care.
- Participates in institution safety and sanitation inspections.
- Responds to patient grievances and completes incident reports.
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement Process (CQIP) and other quality improvement activities.
Requirements
- Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Washington State.
- Unrestricted DEA license with waiver to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certified within 60 days of hire.
- Experience supervising and/or directing health care delivery operations.
Qualifications
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited School of Medicine.
- Completion of an ACGME/ABOM accredited residency program.
- Board certification in an ABMS/ABOM certified specialty with Internal Medicine preferred.
- Board eligible physicians may be considered with continued employment contingent upon achieving board certification within 24 months of hiring date.
Skills
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal laws related to healthcare.
- Experience with HIPAA regulations.
