About the Role

This is a full-time, paid internship opportunity for graduated students (spring graduates) interested in pursuing a career in a medical or healthcare-related field. The position is ideal for those planning a "gap year" before matriculating to professional school, particularly students aiming for careers as physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, or occupational therapists.

Interns will gain comprehensive education and experience in all aspects of clinical operations and workflow, including patient education, rooming patients, learning billing procedures, and various administrative responsibilities. Opportunities to shadow procedures and receive mentoring from the Genesis Orthopedics & Sports Medicine physical therapy team will also be provided.

This is a one or two-year position with a start date in April 2026 and a commitment of 12-24 months. Some part-time applicants with potential for transition to full-time may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the PT staff in the care delivery of patients within the scope of practice defined by state laws and the state Board of Physical Therapy.
  • Carry out day-to-day patient assignments with oversight and guidance from the Director, PTs, and/or PTAs, which may include exercise instruction and modality application.
  • Report all changes in patient findings to the PT and/or PTA.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness, tidiness, and daily upkeep of the clinic.
  • Participate in clinic therapy supply tracking and ordering.
  • Assist in front-end administrative tasks, including but not limited to checking patients in, assisting with questionnaire completion, calling patients, handling visit authorization, and scheduling as needed.
  • Conduct physical therapy care within the scope of practice, agency policies, and regulations.
  • Consistently follow company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
