PHYSICAL THERAPY DIRECTOR

About the role

The Physical Therapy Director leads and manages the Physical Therapy Department across multiple hospital service lines, including Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Medical-Surgical, and Inpatient Rehabilitation (IRF).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of the Physical Therapy Department.
  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and evaluate Physical Therapy staff.
  • Ensure delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based patient care.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, federal, state, and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and hospital leadership.
  • Develop and implement departmental goals, quality initiatives, and performance improvement projects.
  • Assist with budgeting, resource utilization, equipment management, and strategic planning.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Current Louisiana Physical Therapist (PT) License in good standing.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of clinical Physical Therapy experience required.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred.
  • Experience in LTACH, Acute Care, ICU, Medical-Surgical, or Inpatient Rehabilitation strongly preferred.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy preferred.
  • Experience in LTACH, Acute Care, ICU, Medical-Surgical, or Inpatient Rehabilitation preferred.
