Physical Therapy Asst.-H

About the Role

Assist in providing physical therapy treatments to patients as directed by a Physical Therapist, while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting department operations.

Responsibilities

• Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist and according to the physician treatment plan.
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes per PT Board requirements.
• Maintain department cleanliness and assist with cleaning and maintenance of the treatment area.
• Participate in Patient Care and Rehabilitation Conferences as needed.
• Assist the nursing department with training Restorative Aides.
• Communicate with supervisors and health team members regarding patient progress, problems, and plans.
• Participate in in-service training programs for other facility staff.
• Record treatment changes per policy and procedures.
• Instruct patients’ families or nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training for discharge preparation.
• Report equipment issues to ensure the department’s tools are in good working order.
• Demonstrate the ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with patients, families, staff, and professional colleagues.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state.
• Proficient in computer skills, including data entry into programs such as Casamba and Point Click Care.
• Ability to read technical procedures, policy, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, coworkers, and families.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must meet continuing education requirements per state practices and maintain a license in good standing with the state board.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, pushing/pulling, talking, and hearing.
• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Ability to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception in vision with the ability to adjust focus.
