Physical Therapy Assistant - Travel Contract
About the Role
Work with patients recovering from injuries or illness, helping them move better, feel better, and stay active—under the guidance of a licensed Physical Therapist.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited educational program
- Active State License is required to start the assignment
- BLS Certification may be required from AHA or ARC
- Current State of Hawaii license in good standing appropriate to the discipline
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Schedule
- Variable schedule with departmental coverage across 7 days per week
- Generally scheduled 5 days per week
- Likely to include one weekend day
- Must be available to work Hawaii State and Federal Holidays as necessary based on facility operations
- Possible floating to other units or facilities based on census and staffing needs

Location Highlights
Hilo sits on Hawaii Island’s east coast and offers access to Rainbow Falls within about 3 miles of downtown and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park about 30 miles away. Carlsmith Beach Park and Liliʻuokalani Gardens are both in Hilo, providing oceanfront recreation and walking paths in a quieter setting than the island’s resort areas. The Hilo Farmers Market operates near the bayfront, and Hilo International Airport is about 3 miles from downtown, supporting local access and interisland travel. Akaka Falls State Park is about 12 miles north of Hilo, and the Hamakua Coast offers scenic drives, botanical gardens, and waterfall stops.
