Physical Therapy Assistant

About the role

The Physical Therapy Assistant position is located at Day Kimball Health's outpatient rehab facility in Putnam, CT. This role is part-time, working 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Records treatment, response, progress and discharge information in patient's chart or enters information into computer.
• Performs physical therapy procedures and elated tasks as delegated by the supervising physical therapist, including exercise, heat and cold applications, traction, massage, gait training, and hydrotherapy.
• Educates patients, families, and significant others about their condition, treatment, and home program.
• Routinely confers with physicians and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing regarding progress, regression, or changes in the plan.
• Consults with supervising therapists, reporting patient status and recommendations.
• Maintains professional growth through attendance at department meetings, interviews, and educational conferences.
• Aids in the planning and implementation of new programs.

Requirements

• Associates degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program required.
• Licensure by the State of Connecticut required.
• Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
• Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred.

• Understands technical information from supervisors, charts, reference books, manuals, and labels.
• Works fast and accurately in emergency situations.
• Communicates well with people when they are sick, handicapped, or nervous.
• Changes activities frequently.
• Identifies and acts on priorities for smooth department operation.
• Maintains discretion in handling the confidential nature of the information available.
• Keeps up-to-date on current trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.

• Uses eyes, hands, and fingers with skill.
• Works fast and accurately in emergency situations.
• Communicates well with people when they are sick, handicapped, or nervous.
• Changes activities frequently.
• Maintains discretion in handling the confidential nature of the information available.
• Keeps up-to-date on current trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.
