Position Responsibilities
- Provides treatment as directed by the staff physical therapist.
- Observes and evaluates treatment effect, discusses observations with staff physical therapist.
- Performs components of an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested.
- Aids in the formulation of a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and assesses effectiveness of learning.
- Involves family in teaching as appropriate, reports to staff physical therapist on conclusions.
- Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
- Maintains department cleanliness and safety.
- Collaborates with other departments as needed to improve patient care and performance.
- Assists in ordering supplies, maintaining adequate PAR levels to ensure availability of supplies and equipment.
- Participates in infection control, departmental training, and organizational CQI activities.
Experience
- Prior PTA experience preferred.
Education
- AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Special Qualifications
- Current AL certificate as Physical Therapy Assistant.
- BLS required.
- Alabama license required.
