About the role

As a Physical Therapy Assistant at HCA Healthcare, you’ll improve the lives of patients by providing individualized care that restores mobility and independence. Supported by well-defined processes, caseloads that let you focus on patients, and a strong partnership with your team and supervising PTs, you’ll deliver high-quality care with confidence and impact. You'll also have access to resources like educational assistance, clear paths for growth, and scheduling flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient education, including post care planning, proper use of supportive devices and equipment, and gait and functional training.
• Record, monitor, analyze, and review clinical data.
• Provide feedback to therapists regarding possible modifications to treatment plans and goals based on patient performance.
• Adapt recognized therapeutic techniques and modalities to meet the needs of the patient.
• Collaborate with patient service departments and community service agencies to coordinate and conduct educational outreach programs and learning activities.
• Utilize appropriate methods and materials for effective learning, monitor response to education, and adapt programs as needed.
• Deliver therapeutic exercises and functional training to help patients regain independence and mobility.
• Apply physical therapy techniques and modalities to reduce pain and restore function.
• Monitor patient progress and document responses to ensure safe, effective care.
• Teach patients and families how to use assistive devices and follow home exercise programs.
• Work closely with PTs, nurses, aides, and the care team to enhance the patient experience and support a culture of excellence.

Requirements

• Associate of Science (A.S) degree or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Experience in an appropriate healthcare setting preferred.
• Current state of Florida Physical Therapy Assistant license.
• Current FIM (Functional Independence Measure) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association (AHA).
• Critical thinking and adaptability; service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions; ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• PC skills.
• Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds.

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
