About the role

The Physical Therapist Assistant I provides direct patient care under the direction of a qualified Physical Therapist upon physician referral. PIH Health is a nonprofit, regional healthcare network serving approximately 3 million residents in Los Angeles County, Orange County, and the San Gabriel Valley. The network includes hospitals, outpatient medical offices, home health services, hospice care, and specialty programs in heart, cancer, orthopedics, women’s health, urgent care, and emergency services.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of a qualified Physical Therapist upon physician referral.

Requirements

• Graduate of a Physical Therapist Assistant Associate Degree program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
• Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in California, or eligible to take the licensure examination in California, with PTA license applicant documentation on file.
• At least two years of experience, preferably in a home‑health agency, acute‑care facility, or outpatient clinic.
• Maintain a current California Physical Therapist Assistant license.
• CPR certification.
• Current driver’s license and valid auto insurance.
• Ability to perform patient care utilizing correct body mechanics and to address biophysical, psychological, educational, and environmental needs of patients and their significant others.
• Competent to treat a variety of diagnoses for patients ranging from infants and children to adults and older adults.

Preferred qualifications

• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office products.

Compensation

Salary range: $33.00 – $51.75 per hour.
