Responsibilities

• Initiate and maintain therapeutic programs by reviewing evaluations and plans of treatment written by a Licensed Physical Therapist and implementing patient treatment programs.
• Assist with the physical integration of patients to various types of surfaces including hills, stairs, even and uneven surfaces.
• Implement treatment programs as directed by a Licensed Physical Therapist, including pain relief modalities such as application of hot packs, cold packs, "omni stim" units, neuromuscular stimulation units, and transcutaneous nerve stimulation units if trained to do so. Other modalities could include light and deep massage.
• Review and update patient programs through monthly reassessments and selection of interim goals between initial and discharge, appropriately advancing modules under direction and oversight of the Licensed Physical Therapist.
• Continuously monitor patient progress under the direct supervision of a therapist.
• Maintain accurate records and reports.
• Consult with patients, insurance representatives, families, and therapists from various clinic disciplines to provide guidance and information.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Physical Therapy Assistant program required.
• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure in the state of employment.
• Membership in APTA is desirable.
