Physical Therapy Aide (Part Time)

Responsibilities

• Serve as a scribe for recording and editing therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Doctor of Physical Therapy and/or Occupational Therapy.
• Assist in treating patients by preparing heat and ice packs, paraffin dips, helping patients to the pool, guiding them to exercise equipment, monitoring motion, tracking physical exertion levels, and guiding them through prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
• Ensure operation of treatment equipment by completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs.
• Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
• Prepare patients for therapy by welcoming, comforting, and assisting them into sessions.
• Provide information to patients by answering questions, addressing concerns, and allaying fears.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and a safe, clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Manage equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering them to treatment areas, positioning equipment for therapist access, and maintaining inventory.
• Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Answer calls from physician offices, hospitals, and patients with exemplary customer service skills.
• Provide front desk coverage as needed, including scheduling and other administrative duties.

Requirements

• Must be able to cover a location within 15-20 minutes of your home office; responsible for your own transportation.
• Knowledge of Anatomy & Kinesiology, therapy equipment, patient behavior and needs, proper strengthening techniques, and use of restraints/aggressive behavior management practices.
• Ability to complete in-service training, observe and record patient conditions, maintain appropriate conduct for patient welfare, create and maintain records, and write brief reports.
• Strong communication skills.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Pay

The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $17–18.50/hr. Compensation is based on relevant experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and geography.

Schedule

Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–2:00 PM.
