Trinity Health Chelsea Hospital Physical Therapy Aide- Inpatient Rehab
Location: Chelsea, MI
Schedule: Contingent (Non-Benefitted), Variable shifts, weekend and holiday rotation required
Job Summary
Affords support to physical therapists and PTAs by preparing patients for various treatments, transporting them to and from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, and performing routine tasks.
Required Education, Experience And Certification/Licensure
- Minimum of high school education or GED
- One year experience in health care setting or service industry preferred
- Pursuance of a health care career preferred
- CPR
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships

- Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution
- Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors to Chelsea Hospital
- Behaves in accordance with the Code of Conduct, Service Excellence Standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values and policies of Chelsea Hospital
- Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management

- Demonstrates and utilizes proper body mechanics and lifting techniques with patients and materials
- Utilizes mechanical lifts when appropriate to ensure patient and employee safety
- Productively utilizes time when assignments are complete
- May Perform a Variety Of Tasks Including Maintaining department cleanliness, including laundry.
Monitor, maintain and disinfecting of equipment.
Monitor inventory and order items as needed (or work with dept designee to order items). - Create copies and assemble forms and other materials as requested
- Create and prepare for classes and treatments as scheduled or requested
- Deliver patient schedules and documentation forms to patient units as needed
- Aid nursing staff with patient readiness for therapy
- Perform a Variety Of Transportation Duties
Transport patients safely to and from therapy appointments
Ensure patients’ timely arrival at scheduled therapy appointments, or communicate reasons for patient lateness/absence
Obtain necessary patient materials for therapy appointments (i.e., glasses, chart, lap tray, sling, shoes, AFO, etc)
Communicate changes in patients’ schedule/condition to nursing/therapy staff in a timely manner
Arrange for and coordinate assistance to complete transportation, if workload necessitates - Occasional assistance with clerical and/or scheduling duties that could include activities such as: filing & revenue reconciliation
