About the role

Lumiere Children's Therapy is seeking a Physical Therapist Supervisor to join our interdisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience and be willing to supervise new Physical Therapists and PTAs. This position includes working with private clients, preschoolers, and students in private schools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a Plan of Care for each patient based on initial and ongoing evaluations, including short and long-term goals, multidisciplinary collaboration, and patient and caregiver involvement.
  • Implement the Plan of Care on a consistent schedule and adjust it according to patient progress.
  • Document patient progress according to approved medical documentation and facility procedures, within 48 hours after seeing the patient.
  • Evaluate mobility, strength, and current patient function, setting goals to improve these areas that are tailored to the patient's abilities and realistic.
  • Report patient progress to the patient, caregivers, and other relevant healthcare professionals.
  • Develop a plan for patients following completion of their Plan of Care, including a home exercise program as necessary.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through attending educational workshops and continuing education.
  • Aid other facility staff members as needed to ensure a clean, orderly, and effective rehabilitation environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience assisting and directing treatments given by aides, technicians, and physical therapy assistants.
  • Knowledge of responsible use of facility equipment, best practices for equipment use, and preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with recommending assistive equipment, shaping helmets, orthotics/prosthetics to patients as needed, and assist with ordering as needed.
  • Experience with a wide range of patient age groups and injuries.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy and an understanding of when these techniques can benefit patients.
  • A strong sense of empathy, a compassionate outlook on PT, and the ability to motivate patients into pushing their limits in a responsible, safe way.
  • Creativity with physical therapy interventions.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience providing physical therapy to patients in a fully equipped PT facility in pediatrics.
  • BS or Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from a program approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • Current Physical Therapy license for the state of operation.
  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (with AED).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work sitting down in front of a computer for extended hours every day.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
