Physical Therapist (PT) - Outpatient - Pelvic Health

About the role

Interprets physician referrals and completes musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiopulmonary, and/or integumentary evaluations using appropriate methods. Establishes a plan of care and implements individual treatment based on evaluation results and functional goals. Monitors and evaluates outcomes, adjusting the treatment plan as needed and communicates status updates to physicians and other team members. Identifies and addresses factors affecting patient comfort and provides discharge planning, including written home programs, patient/family teaching, and referral for community services.

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician referrals and completes evaluations
• Establishes and implements individual treatment plans
• Maintains and adjusts treatment plans based on patient response
• Communicates with physicians and other team members about patient status
• Plans and completes patient discharge, including home programs and referrals
• Collaborates with stakeholders to achieve optimal patient care
• Completes required documentation following department policy and accreditation standards
• Records patient care and progress
• Completes daily statistics, billing, and scheduling
• Adheres to insurance guidelines and billing policies
• Maintains a clean and orderly work area
• Performs various manual techniques, patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties
• Utilizes modalities, exercise equipment, and other devices as needed
• Ensures patient safety by participating in safety initiatives and following safety and infection control measures
• Pursues professional growth through continuing education and participation in performance improvement activities
• Orients new staff to clinical and department policies
• Provides feedback to colleagues as requested
• Supervises physical therapy assistants and extenders
• Delegates tasks to assistive personnel while maintaining responsibility for patient care
• Supervises physical therapy students after one year of clinical experience

Requirements

• Licensed Physical Therapist in the state where employed
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school or equivalent education
• Continuing education requirements maintained as mandated by applicable state professional standards
